Warm Mittens · Privacy Policy
Last updated 5 October 2026
Warm Mittens is made by Jesper Henriksen, a solo developer in Denmark. It makes it snow on your Mac. Almost everything happens on your Mac and stays there; only the optional snowball feature uses a small server.
What stays on your Mac
Your settings, chosen wallpaper and Pomodoro state are stored on your Mac. Warm Mittens never reads, records or uploads what's on your screen. To let snow land on windows it uses only the positions and sizes of windows, never their contents or titles, and that information never leaves your Mac.
Snowballs between friends
To throw snowballs at friends, the app quietly creates an anonymous account on a server (Supabase, hosted in the EU in Stockholm). There is no email, phone number or password. The server stores:
- a random account ID and your friend code
- the name you type in the "From" field, if any, shown only to friends you have accepted
- your friends list (requests and accepted friends)
- your screen's shape (its width-to-height ratio), so friends aim at the right shape
- snowballs on their way: which of the preset notes it carries and where it lands. They are deleted as soon as they are delivered
- how many snowballs you threw today, for the daily limit
While the app is running, your friends can see that you are online and catching snowballs. Snowballs only ever come from friends you have accepted, and notes are picked from a fixed list, so no free text is sent.
Warm Mittens Pro
Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled by Apple through the App Store. If you buy it, the server stores that your account has Pro and the App Store transaction ID of the purchase, which is checked with Apple to raise your daily snowball limit. I never receive your name, Apple ID or payment details.
No tracking
Warm Mittens has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone. Supabase stores the data above only to run the snowball service for me.
Deleting your data
Remove a friend by right-clicking them in the snowball window. To delete everything, open "Throw a snowball…", then "Add a friend…", then "Delete my snowball account…". Your account, name, friends, snowballs and purchase link are removed from the server right away. Turning Snowballs off stops all sending and receiving.
Children
Warm Mittens asks for no personal information. The optional name can be left empty, and friends are only connected by exchanging codes.
Changes
If this changes, this page will be updated before the app does, with the date above.
