CommentGrab privacy policy

CommentGrab is a browser extension that lets you pick comments on YouTube video pages and turn them into images and short videos. This page explains what it does with data. The short version: everything stays on your computer.

What CommentGrab reads

• When you click a comment on a YouTube page with the picker turned on, CommentGrab reads that comment: the author's name, the comment text, likes, reply count, how long ago it was posted, the author's profile picture, and the video's title, channel name and address.
• It reads nothing else on the page, and nothing on other websites.

Where it is kept

• Picked comments, your canvas layouts and your export settings are stored in your browser's local extension storage on your own computer.
• If you choose an export folder, the browser remembers which folder you chose, on your computer.
• Exported files are saved where you save them. Nothing is uploaded.

What is sent over the internet

• Nothing is sent to the developer or to any third party. CommentGrab has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking.
• To draw a profile picture, CommentGrab downloads that image from YouTube's image servers (the same address YouTube itself uses to show it).
• The canvas editor loads the Roboto font from Google Fonts, like many websites do. Google receives the normal information any web request includes, such as your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.

Deleting your data

Remove comments from the picked list, or clear the canvas, at any time. Uninstalling CommentGrab removes everything it has stored in your browser.

Children

CommentGrab is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
